We have officially launched our new digital payment solution, ‘Lipa ChapChap’, a groundbreaking service designed to simplify transactions for businesses and individuals. Branded with the slogan ‘Maliza Kirahisi, Lipa ChapChap’, this innovative and secure payment method reinforces Exim Bank’s commitment to digital transformation, innovation, and financial inclusion.


With ‘Lipa ChapChap’, businesses and customers can now enjoy seamless, cashless transactions by simply scanning a QR code—eliminating the need for cash payments. The service is free for merchants, making it an attractive option for businesses looking to enhance their payment systems without incurring additional costs.


Speaking at the launch, Andrew Lyimo, Exim Bank’s Head of Retail Banking, emphasized the bank’s vision for a digitally empowered economy. He stated, “Maliza Kirahisi, Lipa ChapChap’ is a testament to our commitment to innovation and convenience. This solution not only enhances payment efficiency but also promotes financial inclusion by catering to all businesses, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), with a secure, cost-free, and easily accessible real-time digital payment solution. Our goal is to create a cashless ecosystem that benefits both businesses and customers.


The introduction of ‘Lipa ChapChap’ aligns with Tanzania’s growing digital economy, enabling businesses to accept payments from all banks and mobile network operators—ensuring inclusivity and interoperability across financial platforms.


Silas Matoi, Head of Alternative Digital Channels, highlighted the security and ease of use, stating, “Security is at the heart of digital transactions, and Lipa ChapChap provides instant transaction confirmation, ensuring both customers and merchants enjoy a worry-free experience. With just a quick scan, payments are processed instantly—no need to handle cash or swipe a card. It’s secure, simple, and designed for everyone.
